We hand raise all of our puppies and are present during every stage of their development. Our well structured training and youth development programs yield stable, happy, and trustworthy dogs. How do I reserve an adult dog or puppy?

The first step is to reach out! We are happy to set up an introductory call to understand your goals and select the best dog to fit your needs. After the phone consultation and selection, a deposit is required to secure your reservation for adult dogs. For puppies, we have a running waitlist and deposits are accepted starting at 4 weeks of age. A visit will follow where you can meet your new dog and ask any other questions you may have. What should I do for my dog when I travel?

Our dogs are trained to be lifelong companions and we love to bring them along for the ride! That being said, everyone needs a vacation and we understand that bringing your dog is not always possible. If you have an upcoming trip, please do not hesitate to reach out to us! We are happy to provide recommendations to our preferred boarding facilities in the Chicago area. Our Chicagoland Protection Dogs trainers also offer professional at home boarding services. Will your dogs get along with my cat?

Yes! We raise our dogs as puppies to be social with other dogs and animals. All of our dogs are trained to be attentive, alert, and responsive to their owner’s commands. Please inform our team during your consultation if you have any other pets to help us select the best dog to fit your needs and lifestyle. We are happy to provide guidance on positive introductions for families with pets.

How long does it take to bond with a dog?

At Chicagoland Protection Dogs, we pride ourselves on the stable and loving temperament of our dogs. Most dogs begin to bond with their new owners over the course of a few hours. The full bonding process varies for each individual and can take between a few days to a few weeks. This process is unique for each person and their lifestyle. Bonding can be influenced by lifestyle factors such as work schedule, household dynamics, the personality of the dog, etc. If you have any questions about bonding within the household, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Can I rename my dog?

Accepted Answer

Yes, of course. We name our dogs after their puppy stage as we continue to bond and train with them. Many of our families change their dog’s name once they bring them home and that is completely okay! Learning their new name is similar to learning a new command. Use your dog’s new name consistently and they will begin responding to it after a few days.
